Mother's Quilt Rack

Desperation is truly the mother of invention.  About 2 weeks before Christmas, we realized we would have 6 house guests for a few days.  It wasn't so much a matter of having room as of finding a place for the quilts stacked (more or less) on a couch, a bed and pretty much any open flat surface.  My husband searched the internet for a quilt storage solution.  He was surprised to find very little to choose from.  So he did what he does best.  He designed and built a quilt storage rack.  The man is brilliant.

It's compact, only 24 inches deep and holds about 50 quilts, depending on size.  We went from scary pile of quilts -

to a neatness, in just a few minutes.

Mother's Quilt Rack also works well to store unfinished projects or rolls of batting.  And no, I'm not showing off my ufos.

My quilting friends checked this baby out and convinced us that there were other quilters out there who could use some quilt storage.  So now Mother's Quilt Rack is for sale at www.mobquilts.com.  We also have a rack with fewer rolls.  Just in case.

We took it to the Metropolitan Patchwork Society show in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, to see what quilters had to say.  It seems we're not the only ones to have a pile of quilts we don't want to stack, fold, or move when we have guests.  We may be onto something.

This was our booth and since this was our "first rodeo", we learned a few things.  It was a lot of fun and we met lots of terrific people.

Now spreading neatness,  Mother
